A birth certificate is an important legal document used as proof of birth for visa, immigration, passport, education, and other official purposes. In Pakistan, the computerized birth certificate is commonly known as the “NADRA Birth Certificate.” However, these certificates are not issued directly by National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
Local Union Councils across Pakistan are authorized to issue computerized birth certificates through an online system developed and managed by NADRA Islamabad. This system allows Union Councils to verify and process birth records digitally.
NADRA Birth Certificate Online System
Previously, Union Councils used an offline system and issued birth certificates on special security papers provided by NADRA representatives. Over time, the system was upgraded and is now fully online in most cities of Pakistan.
Today, computerized birth certificates are generally issued on standard A4 paper after online verification and approval through the NADRA-linked system. Because of this digital process, these certificates are widely referred to as “NADRA Birth Certificates.”
